Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Makarios desktop application (the "Software"), the website at makarios.digital (the "Website"), and related services provided by Makarios Digital ("we," "us," or "our").

By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the Software, or by using the Website, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Software or Website.

Definitions

  • Software — the Makarios freelancer project management desktop application for Windows and macOS, including updates we provide.
  • License — the limited right to use the Software as described below, not ownership of the Software itself.
  • You — the individual or business entity that purchased the License.

Software license

Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for your personal or commercial freelance business.

You may

  • Install the Software on computers and devices you own or control
  • Move your workspace between devices using the built-in export and import features
  • Use the Software for unlimited clients and projects within your own business

You may not

  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or lease the Software or your license key
  • Share the installer or license with others who have not purchased their own license
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software except where applicable law expressly permits
  • Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use the Software for unlawful purposes or to violate others' rights

Purchases and delivery

Makarios is sold as a one-time digital download. Current pricing is listed on our Pricing page. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated. Applicable sales tax may be added at checkout.

Payment is processed by Polar.sh (merchant of record). By completing checkout, you authorize Polar to charge your selected payment method. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

After successful payment, you receive access to download the Software for supported platforms. Delivery is electronic — no physical product is shipped. We may refuse or cancel orders in cases of suspected fraud, error, or abuse.

Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with Makarios within 30 days of purchase, contact [email protected] with your order ID or purchase email. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.

After 30 days, purchases are generally non-refundable except where required by law.

Updates and support

Your purchase includes lifetime updates to the Software at no additional charge. Updates may add features, fix bugs, or improve compatibility. We do not guarantee a specific release schedule or that every feature request will be implemented.

We provide email support at [email protected] and through our Support page. We aim to respond within one business day but do not guarantee a particular response time.

Your data

The Software stores your workspace data locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining backups using the export tools provided. We are not responsible for data loss caused by device failure, user error, or failure to back up.

Website use

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with or disrupt the Website or its security
  • Attempt unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Use automated means to scrape or overload the Website without permission
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation

The Website may use cookies as described in our Privacy Policy. Analytics cookies load only with your consent.

Intellectual property

The Software, Website, documentation, branding, and all related content are owned by Makarios Digital and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or logos except as needed to identify the product you licensed.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS. YOU USE THE SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MAKARIOS DIGITAL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE OR WEBSITE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE OR WEBSITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANY AMOUNT, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the Software and delete all copies in your possession. Sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will survive termination.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Software shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts, except where consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Changes

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Software or Website after changes become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
